This was taken from the Ferret Central website....

Although most ferrets love milk and ice cream, they shouldn't be allowed to
have much. This is especially true for young kits, since the lactose in
cow's milk gives ferrets diarrhea, which can easily cause them to become
dehydrated. Goat's milk, available in some pet stores, is okay. Likewise,
I've heard that soy milk is good for them and generally liked, but I haven't
seen any verification.

I don't see anywhere in here where it say they can't have it at all.....

Mine sometimes get a little bit, and don't get diarrhea. Mind you, what they
get is some licks from my own dessert, or the whipped cream on my coffee,
not their own share in a bowl or something :-)
And did you know that lots of cats are lactose intolerant ? Nobody ever
talks about that........

Small amounts of either won't hurt. Cream...have at it...cream is a good
fat builder...if you have a ferret that is underwieght and you want to pork
him/her up, use heavy cream. Just make sure your critter isn't lactose
intolerant...which most are not.

Chocolate...old wives tale, with ferrets. The sugar in it will do more
harm. Like any other sweet, use judiciously.

Most ferrets can tolerate whipping cream quite well. It is 73 or 75%
fat. Unsalted ,clarifed butter is even better. It is 100% fat.
Avoid regular milk, low fat milk etc. it has almost no fat in it.

Just wanted to make sure you're noting the difference between
*whipped* cream, which goes on top of milkshakes and hot chocolate,
and whipping cream, which rises to the top of whole milk. Whipped
cream usually has sugar added to it. Whipping (or 'heavy') cream has
very little dextrose or lactose in it, and is perfectly fine for them
in small amounts. It can also be used to keep on weight if they're off
their chow. Doesn't matter whether they're hobs (male) or jills
(female), btw.

And what a fine name it is. My second ferret was a Woodrow.
